Empfohlen wird die Verwendung von SSL

Encodiertes Passwort erzeugen:

perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("iw\0iw\0passwort")'

oder:

echo -en "iw\0iw\0passwort" | mimencode

Authentifizierung testen:
